MADISON (WKOW) -- Most of you probably know the grocery chain Hy-Vee, but what you might not know is that some of your purchases there go towards helping those less fortunate. There's a company-wide effort going on right now called "One Step."
One Step takes a portion of Hy-Vee's private branded items and uses them for charitable donations around the world. The mission of the program is to feed the hungry, grow community gardens, plant trees and build water wells.
Some of the items in the program include bottled water, cereal, potatoes and paper products. To learn more about the efforts thus far, watch Fitchburg Hy-Vee store director, Jan Nichols, live on Wake Up Wisconsin in the video attached to this article.
