UPDATE: Beloit library to reopen after flooding

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE (WKOW) -- Beloit Public Library will reopen at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday after a two-day closure due to flooding.

Some areas of the building will remain inaccessible. Library officials say those areas will be cordoned off and clearly marked.

Officials say the damage is contained mostly in the rear of the building, with the Riverside Room being the most affected, as well as a portion of the fiction section. Some circulation materials, flooring, furniture, walls, insulation, and ceiling tiles were affected, but it is unknown at this time the extent of the damage.

BELOIT (WKOW) -- Beloit Public Library is still open for voting Tuesday following flooding in the building Monday.

The library portion of the building is closed as crews clean up damage. It is unknown at this time if they will open on Wednesday, according to a Facebook post.

The damage experienced is mostly contained in the rear of the building. Therefore, although the library will be closed, it will remain an official polling place for Wards 13, 14, 15, and 22 during Tuesday’s election. Hours are 7 a.m.-8 p.m. The gates to the rest of the building will be closed.

Blender Café remains open and can again accept all forms of payment, including credit and debit cards. Wifi also is back up and working.

Stateline Literacy Council classes still will be held Monday evening and Tuesday although they will take place in a different part of the building. Location information will be available upon the arrival of students.

Our drive-through book drop remains open on the south side of our building for patrons needing to return materials.

We know the services we provide are critical to many of our patrons. We are working to get back up and operational as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.
