TOWN OF MADISON (WKOW) -- Police are continuing to search for a suspect in an attempted homicide Monday in the town of Madison.

According to town of Madison police, officers were dispatched on Sunday, April 1, 2018, to the 2100 block of Rimrock Road where a man told police he was being chased by two men in a gray Toyota that had a "beef with him."

The man had pulled into a parking lot where he thought there would be surveillance cameras when the suspects pulled in alongside him.

The man got out of his car and began to run when one of the suspects fired one round hitting the doorpost of the car.

Officers obtained a description of the vehicle and on Monday began surveillance. The vehicle left the scene about 3:25 Monday and took off at a high rate of speed when officers attempted a stop.

Speeds reached 100 m.p.h. on the westbound Beltline when officers called off the pursuit.

The suspect then exited on Whitney Way, hit a curb and deflated the tires. The suspect then fled to a nearby grocery store where he was spotted by officers. He then fled and was arrested near Odana Lane and Odana Road.

The suspect did not have a gun with him at the time of his arrest, however he was taken into custody on a probation hold. The second suspect, who police believe pulled the trigger, is still on the lose.

"The person who pulled the trigger is still at large," said Town of Madison Police Chief Scott Gregory. "I'm concerned for the public's safety. This is a man whose willing to shoot at somebody out in public who has a gun who we consider to be armed and dangerous and there are concerns because he's still out there."

A description of the suspect is not available yet. Check back for updates.
