Cephus returns to the field for the Badgers

MADISON (WKOW) -

The injury could not have come at a worst time for Quintez Cephus. The sophomore was leading the Badgers' receiving corps with 30 catches for 501 yards and six touchdowns when he went down with a leg injury against Indiana.

"Not trying to be cocky, I was playing well. I was really like at my peak, the last seven or eight games. I was getting like the hang of things."

That injury in early November ended Cephus' season. The Badgers coaching staff planned to have him sit out the spring as well. However, Cephus kept progressing. After proving himself with some individual drills and prodding the coaching staff, Cephus was able to re-join his teammates for the last week or so of spring ball.

"Obviously, I was happy to just put on the equipment again and like warm up with the team. It was special. I just couldn't stop smiling when I was warming up.
Just catching a ball with Alex (Hornibrook), just things like that. Things I haven't done for six months and running routes with the team and getting coached again. It was just all happy for me."

Cephus will return next season to a loaded receivers group. The Badgers return their top four receivers from last season.
