Some local heroes are hitting the ice for a good cause.
"Fire on Ice" is a charity hockey tournament benefiting the Make-A-Wish foundation. Firefighters, police officers and EMS professionals in the area will be squaring off at the Madison Ice Arena April 20-22.
The event is in its seventh year and it has been able to grant eight wishes for local children who have life-threatening medical conditions.
This year, the money raised will help an 8-year-old from Cottage Grove. His wish is to meet Kris Bryant from the Chicago Cubs.
"It's a great feeling," said Matt Murray from Fire Fighters 311. "We like the sense of community and we like being able to give back, that's why we do what we do in civil service... and to be able to participate with with Make-A-Wish is a true honor."
