MADISON (WKOW) -

After a record-setting career at Northern Illinois, Shane Wimann is hoping to hear his named called this week in the NFL Draft. The Wisconsin Dells High School graduate is coming off a senior season in which he set a school record for a tight end with seven touchdown catches.

"Obviously stats can be good. There really hasn't been a pass-catching tight end here for a while. I was trying to change that a little bit. I think I did a decent job. I've got some good film. Stats are cool, but I've got a lot of other things on film that will really matter as far as the scouts and the teams."

Wimann proved his pass-catching ability with 30 receptions this past season for 283 yards. The 6'4", 250-pounder also prides himself in his blocking. He believes that versatile skill set will be his ticket to the pro ranks.

"I feel like I'm a versatile guy. I can play fullback. I can play tight end, H-back. I love blocking. It's kind of my main thing, but I can catch the ball too. I mean, you throw the ball my way, I'm going to come down with the catch 95% of the time. So, I think my skills are going to translate."

The draft starts Thursday night with the first round. The second and third rounds will be Friday. The final four rounds of the draft will be Saturday. Coverage on that final day will air on ABC beginning at 11 a.m.
