Nearly 100 teenagers will hit the stage this weekend in Verona to perform a popular Broadway musical.
The Verona Area Community Theater is putting on "Hairspray" April 26-28.
Wednesday morning the director of the show appeared on Wake Up Wisconsin for a live interview. She said this show has a powerful message.
"It's incredibly relevant today," said Alyssa Dvorak, Hairspray director, co-choreographer. "A lot of the issues that some of the teenagers in the show are facing are still issues that teenagers today are facing, such as body image, such as racism. I think for the kids to be able to recreate these issues through this show is a really great avenue for them to explore relevant topics in today's society."
