UPDATE: Madison's Fountain chosen for Indianapolis Colts

UPDATE (WKOW)  --  Madison native Daurice Fountain, a former wide receiver at Northern Iowa, goes 159th overall to the #Colts. The call for the former Madison Memorial standout happened Saturday in Round Five of the NFL Draft taking place in Arlington, Texas.

Like so many college kids, Daurice Fountain came home to a warm welcome from family and friends in Madison. However, this is far from your normal weekend trip home. Instead, Fountain returned to sight of his youth to watch his childhood dream of joining the NFL become a reality.

"It's been just extremely a blessing, man. It's crazy because it's probably like 1% of the college athletes in the nation get to go through this whole process. Just to know that I can be a part of it, has been an extreme blessing."

As a kid growing up in Madison, Daurice dreamed of this moment. However, the Madison Memorial football and track and field standout did not receive any offers from FBS colleges. Still, it did not deter him.

"I've been having this dream since whenever I can remember, since probably third grade. So, when I didn't get a FBS offer, it just added more fuel to the fire."

A motivated Fountain signed with Northern Iowa. He eventually became a star for the Panthers. This past season, he posted 943 yards and 12 touchdowns. The 6'1" receiver followed that up with a strong showing at the East-West Shrine Game. He suddenly found himself as a popular pick to be a draft sleeper.

"It's really surreal, especially seeing all these big names like Mike Mayock, Mel Kiper. Just to know that my name was in the conversation for being these late risers and stuff like that, it's just crazy."

Fountain plans to hang out with friends and family for the rest of the weekend while waiting for the call that will make his dream a reality.

"I'm going to try to keep my cool, but I'm probably going to burst in tears. I can just already think about it. My mom was already crying today just talking about it. So, I already know once I see my mom and my grandma cry, I'm literally just going to burst into tears. I'm just going to be overwhelmed with joy."
