Regardless of party, both sides of the aisle talk opioid crisis during reelection campaign

Posted: Updated:

MADISON (WKOW) -- Governor Scott Walker released his second campaign ad this week, this one focusing on the opioid epidemic. This is a topic both Democrats and Republicans can agree on. Fighting the epidemic is a top priority.

Recently, Senator Tammy Baldwin opened up about her mother's addiction to painkillers. Baldwin said she hopes telling her story can help others who are also struggling. “I had on one hand the stability of being raised by my grandparents, but I loved my mother and spent time with her,” said Baldwin. “As a kid I always wanted to figure out how I can help fix this.”

Walkers ad talks about how he's signed more than 30 bills into law aimed at tackling the crisis. It also focuses on the HOPE agenda, a package of bills aimed to fight heroin use, addiction and overdose.
