UPDATE: Body found on Governor's Island identified, no foul play suspected

UPDATE (WKOW) -- Authorities say the death of a woman whose body was found on Governor's Island in Madison does not appear suspicious.

The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office on Sunday identified her as 61-year-old Mary Lu Sauer. A boater found her body on Friday near the shore of Lake Mendota. 

Authorities have not said how she died but did say there are no overt signs of foul play. They're doing additional testing now.

UPDATE (WKOW) -- Officials have provided a few new details about the body that washed up on the shoreline of Lake Mendota Friday afternoon. 

Madison Police say the body is that of an unidentified 61-year-old woman.

The Medical Examiner responded to the scene and more information will be available once an autopsy has been completed.

MADISON (WKOW) -- The City of Madison Police Department is currently investigating an incident where a body was found on the shoreline of Lake Mendota.

The person was found dead on the shore of Governor's Island around 3 p.m. on Friday.

Police have not released any details on how the person died.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
