Portage County officials confirmed a man is dead after a shooting in the Town of Almond on Saturday.
Sheriff Mike Lukas said an altercation took place Saturday evening before a 31-year-old man shot another man to death.
Several shots were fired, inside and outside of a home.
The suspect took off from the scene but is in custody.
Portage County Sheriff's Department, Wisconsin State Patrol and the Department of Natural Resources are all on scene.
A portion of 4th Avenue in the Town of Almond is currently blocked off.
Sheriff Lukas said the public is not in any danger.
Almond High School prom was temporarily suspended and everyone was moved to an off-site location while officials were looking for the alleged shooter. Once the suspect was arrested, prom was allowed to continue, according to the sheriff's department.
