MADISON (WKOW) -- The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association gathered Saturday night to celebrate excellence in journalism in the Badger State.

This year's theme is the Kentucky Derby, so many dressed up in big hats and bowties.

WKOW staff members are celebrating some recognition, taking home four first place awards, including best evening newscast for our coverage of tornado damage in June 2017.

Meteorologist Max Tsaparis won best weathercast, reporter Hunter Saenz was chosen for best live on-scene reporting, plus photographer Matt Behrens and reporter Nick Buffo were awarded first place for best use of news video for a special report looking back on the Didion Milling explosion in Cambria
