Hundreds come out to Warner Park for 2018 Walk MS

MADISON (WKOW) -- People were lacing up their sneakers to end the fight against multiple sclerosis this weekend.

About 15-hundred people came out Sunday to Madison's Warner Park for the annual Walk MS event to enjoy the walk, live music, kids' activities and a silent auction.

For people who have MS, the immune system attacks the nerves, resulting in damage that disrupts communication between the brain and body.

Organizers say Walk MS sees great support from the community.

"The best part about [the event] is all of the support. It's hard to tell sometimes who has MS and who doesn't have MS down here. There are so many people coming together, it can be very moving...especially for the newly diagnosed," said Autumn Neugent, who is living with MS.

The money raised from the walk on Sunday goes towards the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, with the goal of one day curing the disease.
