University Ridge Hosting Women's NCAA Golf Regional

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -

Eighteen different women's golf teams from NCAA Division 1 schools will descend on University Ridge Golf Course in Madison this week for a women's golf regional.

One Badger to keep an eye out for is senior Lexi Harkins.  She transferred to UW-Madison from UNC-Chapel Hill. Harkins has played in three NCAA regionals and two NCAA championship tournaments before as a Tar Heel - but this is her first regional for Wisconsin.

Harkins has been one of the top three badgers in tournaments all year long.

"Any time you have that opportunity to bring somebody in on the front end of your lineup and add that kind of talent to your roster, it really makes a big difference," said Wisconsin women's golf coach Todd Oehrlein. "We've been really fortunate that she chose to finish out her career here."

"It's really exciting [to play this week] and it's even more exciting that it's here [in Madison]," said Harkins. "I mean, all my family's coming, all my friends. So it'll be fun."

The tournament begins Monday, May 7th and runs through Wednesday, May 9th.
