Farm Bureau meeting with AG over CBD oil production "very productive"

MADISON (WKOW) -- A Wisconsin Farm Bureau lobbyist said his meeting with Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel over producing CBD oil under the Industrial Hemp Pilot Program was “very productive.”

Rob Richard, Government Relations at the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation, said the state Department of Justice (DOJ) will be honoring ACT 100; “A person may plant, grow, cultivate, harvest, sample, test, process, transport, transfer, take possession of, sell, import, and export industrial hemp in this state to the greatest extent allowed under federal law.”

Richard said CBD oil produced under Wisconsin Hemp Pilot Program should be “okayed” by the DOJ soon. A spokesperson from the DOJ agreed the meeting went well.

“We had a productive conversation with the legislators, DATCP, Farm Bureau, and Legislative Council,” said Johnny Koremenos with the DOJ. “We look forward to updating the public before the end of the week.”
