MADISON (WKOW) -- May has been the wettest month of the year so far by a long shot. The average amount of precipitation in May is 3.55 inches.
However, only ten days into the month, we've already received 4.95 inches of rain. In fact, the wettest month of the year in Madison is in June, averaging a whopping 4.53 inches of precipitation, with August not too far behind at 4.25 inches.
This weekend more rain is in the forecast, and it looks like we can get half of our monthly total in just a couple days. Rainfall is expected tonight through Sunday morning with cooler temperatures. After the cold front pushes through the area tonight, some areas could see a little over two inches of rain from tonight into Sunday morning.
Last month was one of the coldest months on record. Could this month be one of the wettest? We're only ten days into the month, but indeed it could if the trend continues.
