A Wausau man broke the Guinness World Record for the most t-shirts worn while running a half marathon.
Steve Ruppel ran the half marathon in Eagle River Saturday morning wearing 60 t-shirts. The previous record was 51 t-shirts.
"Absolutely craziest so far," he said.
Steve said it wasn't hard for him to come up with this bizarre idea.
"I'm all about bad ideas, just sitting at home and thinking of what I can do to pass the time and stay busy so this is what I came up with," he said.
His wife Abby Ruppel is used to hearing his bizarre ideas.
"He walked through the door with a big smile o his face and I knew something was up," she said. "I can't say I was super shocked because he does wild crazy stuff all the time so this was just another one."
Steve said there was a bit of prepping that led to him making history on Saturday.
"I ran with a 20 pound vest and some extra layers but the farthest I have gone with this many shirts is 4 miles," he said.
Saturday's world record breaker wasn't Steve's first go at wold titles.
He already holds the record for stacking the tallest amount of donuts . He is awaiting confirmation on tying a shoelace the fastest and being the quickest to drink a liter of gravy through a straw.
It took him 2 hours and 40 minutes to complete the half marathon.
This will be Ruppel's fourth Guinness World Record
