Families remember lost children at March for Babies walk in Madison

MADISON (WKOW) -- Parents are sharing their stories of loss this weekend to help prevent other families from dealing with similar tragedy.

The March of Dimes "March for Babies" raises money for research to prevent premature births, birth defects and infant mortality.

The Rundes were ambassadors at the walk at Olin Park in Madison. They lost their son Adam 9 years ago. He was born at 26 weeks and weighed less than 2 pounds. He passed away after just 25 days.

The family says the event was an opportunity to remember him.

"It means the world. It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the NICU graduate success stories while at the same time remembering those of us who have experienced loss," said Corissa Runde.

The March of Dimes supported research that helped Runde carry her second child to term.
