MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison's Common Council approved spending more money on the Judge Doyle Square project downtown.

The project originally came in with a $186 million price tag, but with increasing construction costs, developer Beitler Real Estate said it needed $11 million more. City alders approved that money Tuesday night, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The vote was unanimous.

The Judge Doyle Square project is a redevelopment of two blocks in downtown Madison -- the Madison Municipal Building (Block 88) and the Government East parking garage (Block 105). Plans call for a new hotel, retail space and a new parking ramp.
