Pontoon boat rides on Madison lakes will return for summer

MADISON (WKOW) -- If you'd like to get out on Madison's lakes this summer, you can sign up for a drop-in pontoon boat ride starting June 5.

Madison School and Community Recreation is bringing its pontoon boat program back for this summer. Rides cost $5 per person, and children 3 years old or younger ride for free.

You can catch the boats at the following times and locations from June 5 - September 29:

  • Mondays, at Olbrich Park, 3527 Atwood Ave, Lake Monona Only – 1:30-2:30 pm and 2:45-3:45 pm·
  • Tuesdays, at Tenney Boat Pier, 1615 Sherman Ave, 5:30-7 pm & 7:15-8:45 pm (September 5:30-7 pm is the only trip)
  • Thursdays, at Tenney, Lake Monona Only, 5:30-7 pm & 7:15-8:45 pm (September 5:30-7 pm is the only trip)
  • Fridays, at Tenney & UW Goodspeed Family Pier, 650 N Lake St – 1:30-2:30 pm & 2:45-3:45 pm, and
  • Sundays, at Tenney, 1:30-3 pm & 3:15-4:45 pm

There will also be free rides on some Saturdays throughout the season.

Some rides will have special themes like Harry Potter, Superheroes or Pirate Treasure. Groups can rent one or more pontoon boats for private events.
