BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WKOW) -

The UW-Whitewater softball team scored in the seventh inning to edge Illinois Wesleyan 1-0 in the first game of their NCAA Super Regional.

Senior outfielder Mallory Klotz drove in the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning. She now has 231 career hits. That is a school record.

Sophomore pitcher Bella Matthias held Illinois Wesleyan to zero runs on just three hits. She struck out seven and improved to 10-4 on the season.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday at 1 p.m. If Illinois Wesley wins that contest, there will be a decisive third game immediately following. The winner of this best-of-three series advances to next week's NCAA Championship in Oklahoma City.
