MADISON (WKOW) -- The Wisconsin chapter of the American Heart Association is encouraging young girls to learn more about the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.
The Go Red Goes STEM event is Wednesday, May 23 at Madison College's Truax Campus.
The AHA's Go Red for Women campaign is a movement to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease in women. It says as a science-based organization, the AHA recognizes the need to have more women at the table, making life-saving breakthroughs in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. That's why it came up with the STEM event.
The day-long event exposes young female students to some of the area's leading STEM companies. They will be mentored and have break-out sessions.
