Heat Advisory remains in effect until Sunday evening

Posted: Updated:

MADISON (WKOW) -- The heat returns Sunday with high temperatures close to records today in Madison. Isolated showers and storms are possible this afternoon, but a better chance of that happening will be Sunday night into Monday.  Expect highs Sunday in the low 90s with heat index temperatures in the upper 90s and triple digits.

Sunday evening, lows will fall to the mid-70s. Showers and thunderstorms are also possible, mainly during the overnight hours lingering into Monday.

A cold front will push through Monday cooling things down Tuesday. Showers and storms will be possible until Wednesday. We snap the wet pattern on Thursday with seasonal weather.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory, to remain in effect until 7 PM CDT through Sunday evening.

* TEMPERATURE...The combination of heat and humidity will result in heat indices peaking in the upper 90s to low 100s.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illness will be more likely this afternoon due to the hot and humid conditions. Young children, the elderly, and those without access to air conditioning will be especially susceptible to heat related illness.
