Tucker returns to Wisconsin Athletics

MADISON (WKOW) -

Alando Tucker left Wisconsin on top of the record books as the Badgers' career leader in scoring. The first-round pick lasted three seasons in the NBA before playing seven more years in other professional leagues. Then, he began to hear the whispers of a new calling.

"I went through a state of trying to find myself because I always thought that was the end-all, be-all for me," recalls Tucker.

Searching for another purpose, Tucker started his own organization called 'Arcitec Basketball' that mentors kids through the game of basketball. Then, came a realization for Tucker.

"I had to reevaluate where did I have my biggest influence? So, between the lines, my biggest influence was in Wisconsin."

So, Tucker returned to campus this spring as the director of student-athlete engagement. His mission is to mentor student-athletes through the college experience and beyond. He wants to show them possibilities for their future in and out of the game.

"I'm that quintessential example of saying, 'Listen, I went to play pro but I always had a plan. So, this was my plan. I'll show you the blueprint to it'," says Tucker. "Everybody can't be LeBron James but anybody can be an Alando Tucker, and I can show you how to do that."

Most Badgers fans will remember Alando Tucker for his exploits on the court. However, he's hoping to leave another legacy with the next crop of Badgers.

"If I can influence you, if I can motivate you, if I can support you, if I can guide you through this college world and help you navigate it and then you find enjoyment or you find success after that, and I can play a part in that. That's where I find my passion, my happiness."
