AIDS Ride Wisconsin kicks off round trip bicycle ride from Madison to Milwaukee

Posted: Updated:

MADISON (WKOW) -- On Friday, bicyclists kicked off a journey from Madison to Milwaukee and back again.

Bicyclists began the annual AIDS Ride Wisconsin Friday morning from Lake Farm Park. They'll go on a round trip ride from Madison to Milwaukee. The bicyclists will stay at Carroll University in Waukesha overnight before making their way to Milwaukee. They'll then bike back to Madison Sunday.

"Its an epic journey," said AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin's Chief Development Officer Dan Mueller. "It requires a lot of endurance and it requires a lot of people to pull this off; our crew, our riders, and all of the others who are cheering them on."

Over the last 16 years, AIDS Ride Wisconsin has raised more than $3.5 million for AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin. The money goes toward HIV prevention, care, and treatment services.
