Silent March calls for action against gun violence

Posted: Updated:

MADISON (WKOW) -- Hundreds of shoes were laid out on the Capitol steps Thursday to represent the lives lost to gun violence in Wisconsin every year.

Wisconsin Anti Violence Effort (WAVE) put together a 'Silent March.' The demonstration serves as a call to action to put an end to gun violence.

"If we don't have stricter gun laws, then what's going to happen," said WAVE's Riley Reed. "People are going to keep dying, more events like Parkland and Sandy Hook are going to happen. People are going to keep dying in neighborhoods and then the world will end up being unsafe."

All of the shoes from Thursday's demonstration were donated.
