Lumberjill shows what it takes to be log rolling champ

The Lumberjack World Championships are held every July in Hayward, Wisconsin. It's a tradition that began in 1960.

Madison's Shana Martin is a log rolling champion and instructor.

Shana began log rolling when she was just 7-years-old and stuck with it over the years.

She says log rolling has become a little more mainstream, because people have seen it on TV.

"I think especially in the Wisconsin area, people understand the lumberjack heritage of it...but it is still a rare sport and we're trying to grow it as much as possible because every single person that tries it, falls in love with it and its a great summer and year round activity," Shana says.

Shana would know.  She is the 2008 World Champion of women's log rolling.

Shana spends more than an hour a day on the log. She's always excited to bring in a new recruit.

Shana also won the World Boom Running Championship at the Lumberjack World Championships in Hayward.
