MADISON (WKOW) -- Unsealed court records show Madison police detectives believe the cell phone of accused drug dealer Leroy Sharp could reveal details of a west side Madison murder.
An affidavit for a search warrant allege Sharp wanted to rob murder victim Marcus Hamilton. Hamilton was shot and killed in June at his home. Authorities allege Amir Furlow and Promethius Brown were in Hamilton's Tempe Drive duplex trying to rob Hamilton and Hamilton was shot. Furlow was arrested in Chicago and Brown is being sought. A confidential informant who provided information on the homicide is also being sought through the use of a material witness warrant. The informant failed to show up to testify at one of Furlow's court appearances.
Sharp faces federal charges for allegedly selling crack cocaine. Court records show Sharp made repeated cell calls to a single number around the time of the murder, and after the killing, received money from a unnamed man.
