UW Credit Union offers flat, instant issue debit cards

MADISON (WKOW) -- From UW Credit Union:

UW Credit Union became the first financial institution in Dane County, Wis., to offer flat, instant issue debit cards on Monday, August. 25. The flat cards have the same function as traditional debit cards, however they do not have the embossed characters of traditional debit cards. The cards are ready for use immediately when they are issued and eliminate the waiting period of mailing the card and PIN.

"This is something, as an organization, that we are excited to offer to our members," said
Paul Kundert, President and CEO. "Members can now open their account, have their
debit card activated immediately and be ready to go with immediate access to the
money in their account. We think everyone will appreciate the convenience and the time
they will save with these new cards."

UW Credit Union installed Dynamic Card Solutions' CardWizard software application
and flat card printer in its branches located at 3500 University Ave. and 662 State Street
in Madison, as well as the branch at 2200 East Kenwood Boulevard in Milwaukee,
located in the UW-Milwaukee Union.

In addition to new members, current members can also enjoy the instant issue cards.
Members who have lost or damaged their cards can save time replacing their cards by
receiving a new card immediately. Flat cards also offer the ability for immediate PIN
selection, something that used to require a separate trip to a branch.

"Flat cards are the standard in Europe and Canada," Kundert said. "They are just
beginning to emerge in the United States as well. Flat cards are also less expensive to
produce than traditional debit cards, which translates into a return of savings to our
members."

By January of 2009 all UW Credit Union branches will have the CardWizard instant issue
software and flat card printers.
