Harley execs, riders close NYSE remotely

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Harley-Davidson executives, board members and riders gathered for the motorcycle maker's 105th anniversary in Milwaukee will remotely close the New York Stock Exchange Thursday.

Harley-Davidson CEO Jim Ziemer says the company has proudly been a New York Stock Exchange member for 21 years and closing the NYSE will be a great addition to the anniversary celebration.

Instead of the traditional bell, Harley representatives will rely on the V-Rod Muscle engine and horns from other 2009 Harley-Davidson models to close the day's trading.

Thousands of Harley riders from around the world are gathering in Milwaukee this Labor Day weekend where four days of anniversary activities are planned throughout the city and suburbs.
