MIDDLETON (WKOW) -- From Middleton Police Department:
On July 23, 2006, an occupant of a passing car fired two shots at a then 17 year old Middleton youth striking him once in the knee. Minutes before, members of rival gangs had engaged in an alteration after a chance meeting at a nearby convenience store.
After a lengthy investigation by area law enforcement, on 08-26-08, Middleton Police charged Jose Marquez, 20, of Madison; Pablo Elizondo, 20, of Madison; Miguel Miranda-Lopez, 19, of Madison; and Victor Cervantes, 21, of Saragosa, Texas with First Degree Reckless Endangerment and party to Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle. Victor Cervantes remains at large, but is thought to have fled to Texas.
Three persons associated with the shooting victim were charged with Disorderly Conduct stemming from their involvement in the original disturbance.
