Two teens arrested for theft from auto

Madison (WKOW) -- from Madison PD:  On Thursday afternoon, just after 4:30 p.m., Madison Police arrested two teens as they were walking toward the Odana Golf Course on Odana Road.

A citizen had called after noticing the young men were carrying a woman's purse and screwdriver.

The witness saw the thieves dump the purse in some bushes.

It was later determined to belong to a YMCA member.

The victim told officers she had left the purse in her minivan, which she had parked in the "Y" lot.

A window to the minivan was smashed, and the purse was gone.

Thefts from vehicles have been an ongoing problem in various parts of the city.

The Madison Police department would like to thank the citizen witness in this case for being alert, and calling in something he thought to be suspicious.

The teens were arrested and tentatively charged with Theft, Criminal Damage to Property, and Entry into Locked Vehicle.
