Madison (WKOW) -- Madison police discovered a man and a woman dead in their condo after an apparent murder suicide. It happened Saturday around 6:30 p.m. near Watts Road and Kottke Drive in the Manors Condominiums.
Shocked neighbors say they saw no signs of trouble, and can't believe something like this happened. Madison police and emergency units interrupted an otherwise quiet evening on Madison's far west side.
"They were roping trees, roping every little thing by the condo, every single thing," said witness Lori Mertes. "All kinds of police officers."
"[A] police man asked, 'Did you notice or see a fight?' No never, even no noise," said witness Larisa Brik.
Witnesses say several cars were hauled away by tow truck, while police officers went door to door, questioning neighbors about the two people found dead in a nearby condo.
"The cop said 'You're gonna be safe, everybody's' safe,'" said Mertes.
Neighbors tell us they were especially worried, because they say the condo where the bodies were found was also a home childcare center. Witnesses say they're still disturbed over seeing authorities remove what they thought were the victims bodies.
"I was scared," said Mertes. "Really scared."
Said Brik, "I felt bad. And I think "Oh my god." Life's so unpredictable."
Police say the two victims knew one another, and that there is no danger to the public.
Meantime, an investigation is ongoing. Police are waiting to notify family members before releasing the names of the deceased.
