MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The public defender for a Madison mother accused of causing the death of her infant daughter says the woman may never be prosecuted because of her mental disability.
Twenty-four-year-old Ee Lee is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless endangerment and two counts of child abuse in the July 2007 death of 6-week-old Anastasia.
Dane County Assistant District Attorney Robert Kaiser says he won't challenge a finding by psychologists that Lee will not become competent to stand trial anytime soon and that she should be evaluated further.
Although Lee was treated for psychosis, Assistant Public Defender Ellen Berz says psychologists at Winnebago Mental Health Institute determined that Lee has the mental intellect of an 8-year-old.
