ELKHORN, Wis. (AP) -- Two Walworth County deputies acted correctly when they shot and killed a man last summer to save his young daughter.
That's according to a letter from Walworth County District Attorney Phil Koss.
He says no inquest will be held in the case.
Forty-one-year-old Antonio Torres of Pleasant Prairie beat his ex-girlfriend and took off with their 1-year-old daughter, triggering an Amber Alert on June 30.
Torres was spotted in Walworth County and led deputies on a chase.
Then he pulled over on a county road, placed the toddler in the middle of the road and pointed his shotgun at her.
That's when deputies Jon Albrecht and Jamie Green shot and killed him.
Albrecht later told investigators he thought Torres was going to kill the child.
Koss says that was a reasonable conclusion.
