Dodge County Sheriff's Department warns home owners and businesses to take extra precautions
Madison (WKOW) -- from Dane Co. Sheriff: The Dodge County Sheriff's Dept is warning both home owners and business owners to take extra precautions.
During the past two weeks, the Sheriff's Dept has investigated three daytime breaking and entering (B&E's) to rural homes in the Town of Oak Grove.
Additionally, the Sheriff's Department is investigating numerous night time B&E's to businesses in the Town of Beaver Dam.
All of these incidents involved a forced entry by door or window.
"Day time burglars are very brazen and usually mask their conduct by knocking on the door looking for a person or asking for directions. When they get no answer they force their way in," stated Sheriff Todd Nehls.
Jewelry, tools, and cash seem to be the popular items taken.
"If you come home and it looks like you have been a victim call 911. Do not enter the home or business as the perpetrator could still be there. Early entry could also taint evidence. Lock all windows and doors. No not leave key valuables in clear view of your windows. If anybody has a suspicious person stop and ask for directions or posing as a salesperson please call us. They could be casing their next victim", stated Nehls.
