Alliant Energy recognized as leader in business ethics

Madison (WKOW) -- from Alliant Energy:  Alliant Energy Corporation (NYSE:LNT) received a runner-up 2008 Business Ethics Torch Award from the Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin Wednesday at a luncheon awards ceremony held in Milwaukee.

"Upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct is one of our core values here at Alliant Energy and is at the heart of how we do business. Our employees and their commitment to upholding these standards are what set us apart. It is very gratifying to be recognized for our efforts."

  Businesses competing for the Business Ethics Torch Awards were judged against four criteria:

  Ethics - Documented high ethical management practices.

  Excellence - Proven ethical customer, vendor, supplier and shareholder relations.

  Fairness - Examples of marketing, advertising, communication sales practices which reflect a true representation of what is being offered.

  Responsibility - Demonstrated reputation of honest and fair practices in the marketplace.

  Corporate ethics training is required by every employee at Alliant Energy on a yearly basis to reinforce this core value.

  Alliant Energy has an ethics officer, a code of conduct and an employee compliance hotline.

  "Maintaining high ethical standards gives assurances of our reputable business practices and ensures employees of a safe and ethical work environment," Braatz added.
