MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- State Democrats are objecting to ads accusing their candidates of supporting free health care for illegal immigrants.
The Wisconsin Institute for Leadership and the Coalition for America's Families have been running television ads in Eau Claire, La Crosse and Green Bay targeting state Rep. Jim Soletski, D-Green Bay, Rep. Jeff Smith, D-Eau Claire, and Assembly candidate Kristen Dexter, D-Eau Claire.
The ads imply they supported state Senate Democrats' universal health care plan.
Mike Maistelman is the state Democratic Party's attorney.
He has sent letters to a number of TV stations in western and northeastern Wisconsin asking them to pull the ads because they're false and broadcasting them is illegal.
The two groups didn't immediately return messages.
