Madison (WKOW) -- from Madison PD: On Wednesday, shortly after 4:00 p.m., a homeowner contacted the Madison Police Department about a possible scam.
The woman said a man had come to her door saying he had resurfaced her driveway last year, and would she like him to do it again.
The woman did not remember the man at all.
He went on to say he had some leftover material from a recent job, and he could give her a good deal.
The woman ended up paying the man $3,000.
She says he and two of his "employees" spent a couple of hours completing the job.
A family member stopped by to inspect the work, and told the woman she had been scammed, that the job was shoddy.
The woman told police she would have to have the drive done again.
The responding officer advised the woman to also contact consumer protection.
