Madison (WKOW) -- An important reminder - you have until Halloween to safely dispose of any scary household cleaners.
Dane County's Clean Sweep program closes for the season Friday.
From May 2nd through Halloween, Clean Sweep helps Dane County residents safely dispose of their hazardous waste.
The county recycles or destroys things like weed killer, paint thinner and spray paint cans.
"These programs are there to really keep these materials from getting into our environment," explains Clean Sweep Coordinator Dave Radisewitz.
The programs also give residents a chance to grab re-usable household products for free.
Radisewitz says since May, more than 8,000 people have either dumped off items or taken items through the Product Exchange Program.
You can dump off your household hazardous waste at the Dane County Garage at 2302 Fish Hatchery Road until Halloween.
The Clean Sweep facility is open Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
