MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson says John McCain should have done things differently in Wisconsin if he wanted to win here.
The former Republican governor says he believes McCain can still win Wisconsin, but it will take a strong Republican get out the vote effort to do it.
Thompson's comments come after Republican U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan criticized the McCain campaign last week, saying he would have run the campaign differently in recent weeks.
Thompson says McCain and his running mate Sarah Palin should have focused more attention on western and northern Wisconsin as well as around Green Bay in the Fox Valley.
The three-term governor says McCain faces an uphill struggle to win Wisconsin's 10 electoral votes, but it can be done.
