MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A political group has asked a state appeals court to lift a restraining order against one of its campaign ads.
Jackson County Circuit Judge Thomas Lister decided on Saturday to make the Coalition of America's Families pull a radio ad accusing Democratic Assembly candidate Mark Radcliffe of supporting government-run health care for illegal aliens. Radcliffe maintains the ad is false.
Attorneys fro Coalition of America's Families filed an appeal with the 4th District Court of Appeals in Madison early Monday morning.
They argue they have a constitutional right to free speech and a judge can't block statements about public issues and candidates, regardless of whether those statements are true or false.
