Remember the Madison Muskies? The former single-A baseball club for the Oakland A's in the 1980's? The guy who managed the Muskies from 1982-1984 is now the Brewers new 3rd base coach.
Brad Fischer, who has lived in the Madison area with his family ever since he coached the Muskies, is ecstatic to be joining the Brewers, so is his wife Mary.
"It is really is a dream come true. For years, she said get a job with the Brewers, and it's not that easy. There's a lot of clubs out there, it's hard to pick and choose. I was happy with the A's, and then with the Pirates last year, and then this came up and it is like a dream come true," Fischer says.
Fischer and the Brewers new manager Ken Macha worked together in Oakland. Fischer says he plans to drive from McFarland to Miller Park most days to coach the Brewers.
