Husband's death doesn't keep clerk from election

SHARON, Wis. (AP) -- Sharon's village clerk helped residents vote Tuesday even though her husband had died only hours earlier.

Dawn Redenius has been the clerk and treasurer in Sharon for 17 years.

Her husband of 29 years, Bruce Redenius, died of an apparent heart attack Monday.

  He was 55.

Dawn Redenius says she didn't put in her normal long hours on Tuesday but came in about 4:30 p.m. to work on same-day registrations.

Redenius says her husband would understand: He knew how important Election Day was to her.
