Authorities identify shooting victims

MINERAL POINT (WKOW) -- Authorities have identifed the victims of Friday morning's shootings.

37-year old Caig Finley was shot, and pronounced dead at the scene.

His brother, 32-year old Casey Finley was also shot.

He's at UW Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say Charles Witzel fled Wisconsin after the first murder, traveling more than 2,000 miles in the past week.

Witzel was reported in O'Fallon, Missouri on November 5.

He was in West Memphis, Arkansas on November 5 before returning to Mineral Point where the most recent shootings occurred in the early morning hours of Friday.

Law enforcement says Witzel's ex-girlfriend Joan Haglund left the house where last night's shootings took place on advice of sheriff's deputies. The Iowa County Sheriff tells us "she took to heart that she felt she was in danger and did something about it. She got herself removed from a place she felt threatened."

The sheriff said his deputies were guarding the Finleys home earlier this week, but the protection ended on Monday when the Finleys said they didn't want it anymore.

Iowa County Sheriff's deputies were also providing protection to several other people they believed Wtzel might target.
