The Milwaukee Brewers hired former New York Mets manager Willie Randolph as bench coach Saturday.
Randolph says he's excited and looking forward to the challenge.
The 54-year-old Randolph was a candidate for Milwaukee's managerial job, which went to Ken Macha.
But Macha and Randolph are old friends and Macha asked him to join the Brewers.
Randolph says eventually he wants to return to managing, but in the meantime he's excited to be working with Milwaukee.
The Brewers reached the postseason earlier this year for the first time since 1982.
