MILTON, Wis. (AP) -- Residents in the Rock County Town of Milton are concerned freezing weather will aggravate damage caused by flooding around Clear Lake.
Bob and Sharon Schrank lost everything in their basement when the spring-fed Clear Lake flooded.
And, the Schrank's are losing a little more of their backyard every day, as are other residents in the area.
Steven Victor's summer cottage on Clear Lake is now surrounded and filled with water.
Victor says he's concerned that when the water turns to ice around his cottage, it might break it completely off the foundation.
Experts says a winter freeze puts septic systems as risk for rupture, which would contaminate the lake.
Neighbors plan to meet with a University of Wisconsin-Extension professor Tuesday night in their search for solutions.
