MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A Madison radio station has halted a contest in which neither finalist showed signs of backing down even after spending nearly two months in a truck.
Twenty-six-year-old Tommy Kempfer of Sun Prairie and 40-year-old Lisa Thompson of Westfield were vying to be the last person in the truck to win a new $30,000 vehicle.
After 55 days, WMAD-FM offered them a compromise -- end the contest and both receive $10,000 toward the purchase of a car, trips to Las Vegas and $1,000 for a mattress.
With an hour to decide, both contestants agreed in 15 minutes.
The contest allowed entrants 10-minute breaks every three hours.
Six other contestants dropped out in the first month.
Kempfer says he and Thompson were ready to go home.
Thompson says she's happy it's over.
