Madison (WKOW) -- from WI Dept. of Natural Resources: Last June's heavy rain caused a catastrophic breech of 267-acre Lake Delton into the nearby Wisconsin River.
The lake's fishery was either flushed into the river or left stranded on the lakebed.
What mostly remains is invasive carp, which if not removed, will compete with native, desirable fish species slated for restocking once the lake is refilled.
Carp will be killed in the pool behind the Coffer Dam by dropping fish poison into the lake.
The DNR plans to kill the carp Wednesday, at the same time as the refilling of Lake Delton.
