Madison (WKOW) -- More than 100 jobseekers went to the Boys and Girls Club near Allied Drive in Madison on Wednesday to participate in a job fair sponsored by WHEDA, the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority.
The City of Madison is redeveloping the troubled Allied Drive area to include modern apartments. City officials have said they hope the redevelopment will reduce crime, among other goals.
WHEDA, the city, and the project developer brought about 15 contractors part of the redevelopment to the job fair. WHEDA says it hopes to hire workers from the Allied Drive area to foster a sense of community.
